“Rib Cage,” tells the story of Chrysalis, a young woman who appears to have resigned herself to a life in captivity. Trapped in a room decorated with yellow wallpaper (a nod to Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s short story “The Yellow Wallpaper”), she passes the time dreaming of the garden outside her window. Her routine changes, however, when she starts to hear a canary chirping in the walls. Its call beckons Chrysalis, pulling her into a desperate search that leads her to find her freedom where she least expects it: inside herself.
